MALVERN, PA—August 8, 2025—Scala has announced details of the features and enhancements to its core digital signage platform, Scala Enterprise, with the release of Scala Enterprise v13.50. The release delivers significant enhancements to Windows player management, security, and operating system compatibility, reinforcing Scala, part of the STRATACACHE family of technology companies, as a leading global provider of digital signage software solutions.

“We’re committed to delivering the best user experience in terms of stability, security and convenience with our launch of Scala Enterprise v13.50, continuing our biannual platform release cycle. With Scala Enterprise v13.50, we’re addressing client and partner requests for additional application support, modernization of features, player configuration improvements, and ease-of-use,” said Rob Aita, Scala Director of Product Management.

Streamlined Player Updates
Scala has simplified the process of updating players with the introduction of the Player Updater Management tool in Content Manager. The Players list and Player Profiles pages now offer expanded functionality, and a new notification icon appears when a player update file is available — making updates quicker, clearer, and more intuitive.

Added Player Operating System Support
Scala Enterprise now supports third-party players running Windows 11 with the 64-bit player engine. This long-term capability ensures that embedded signage platforms running Windows 11 will benefit from the stability and lifecycle needed for extended deployments. Support has also been added for Ubuntu 22.04 to Scala Player-R and LINQ tablet devices. Existing support for Players S and SP 2204 continue with this release.

Enhanced 64-bit Windows and Linux Player Configuration Tool
The release introduces improvements to the Windows 64-bit and Linux OS 22.04 Player Configuration Tool, streamlining setup, configuration, and management for Scala Players across diverse operating environments.

Expanded Security and Upgraded Chromium Embedded Framework
Enterprise v13.50 updates the 32-bit Windows Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) to CEF 108, providing substantial improvements in performance, security against attacks, and compatibility with modern web technologies. These updates improve administrative efficiency and user convenience, delivering better high-DPI scaling, reduced UI lag, and better responsiveness.
