I am using the Backdrop feature for global crawl and I am not seeing any transparent areas

A global text crawl cannot have any transparent areas on the crawl. It must be solid. Those areas set for transparence on the backdrop image will display the original solid color. This is not case for single page text crawls, which will display any transparency.
