The Challenge

Over the last decade the internet has changed the way people look for a job. International recruitment agency Randstad realised this, but knew that finding the perfect match between a job and a candidate also requires a personal, modern touch. However, Randstad’s offices weren’t reflecting this modern approach to technology.

They were using printed A4 pages with job opportunities, which were timely to keep up to date. Essentially, Randstad wants to attract the attention of people looking for a new job or opportunity, as well as passersby who inevitably will look for a new job at some point. A powerful digital solution helps ensure all these people will think of Randstad before others.

The Solution

Randstad decided to implement Scala software to help match candidates with the right job vacancies in a more efficient and effective way. They worked with QYN, a Scala Certified Partner, to create a series of modern digital displays loaded with dynamic visual content. 350 screens were installed across 140 Randstad locations, strategically placed to attract the attention of any passersby. With the new solution, the Randstad branches are recognizable from a distance due to the digitization of the modern display windows featuring dynamic visual content, as opposed to the yellowed A4 pages which are likely to be ignored. The content has been developed with three main objectives:

  1. Displaying up-to-date job opportunities.
  2. Giving companies with “Top Employers” status, for which Randstad is always looking for candidates, a more prominent spot in the office.
  3. Providing insight into the diversity, breadth and depth of job vacancies Randstad is filling.

QYN used the Scala platform to build a solution that automatically displays any information relevant to the current audience or business conditions – for example, featured jobs from top employers as well as what they deemed to be the most interesting jobs within a 10 km radius. In addition, passersby can follow up on jobs by using their smartphone to scan a QR code on the screen.

“By creating an API-based plugin for Randstad we can combine the best-in-class Scala Enterprise Content Manager functionalities with a simplifi ed and specifi cally designed dashboard for the Randstad employees who want to use the screens but are not trained as a content or channel manager. But more than just advertising vacancies, QYN has created a diverse, expressive and dynamic mix of images that draw attention to and create awareness for the Randstad brand. A large screen in reception areas and tablets help visitors find more information about potential employers, job vacancies and the company. This digital solution not only connects the applicant with the information available but creates a more modern feel to the company, making their website a showcase for the Randstad organization. The advanced API of Scala software is the foundation of the QYN solution, and according to QYN, is the foundation for inspiring system integrators to get creative.

The Results

The impact of the screens should not be underestimated. Now, the Randstad branches are recognisable at a distance, catching the attention of potential candidates passing by any of the offices, helping Randstad to become synonymous with new job opportunities.
