If you have an existing Content Manager installation under Windows 7 (32 bit), to migrate it to 64-bit do the following:
- Uninstall Tomcat 5.5.27.
- Install the 64-bit version of the Java Runtime, version 188.8.131.52.
- Install Tomcat 5.5.28.
- Apply the latest Content Manager updater using the /WEBAPPCONFIG installation option.
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit):
Starting with Release 5.1.9 Scala Content Manager 5 now supports Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) version.
We recommend upgrading to Windows 7.
Windows Server 2003:
Content Manager supports using Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise or Web Edition. Windows Server 2003 R2 can also be used for Designer and Player 5. However, depending on the hardware, the graphics card may need to be upgraded and hardware acceleration must to be increased to ‘Full’.
Designer 5, Content Manager 5, and Player 5 are all supported on Windows XP.
1. The Scala Player 5 System Optimizer does not currently contain settings to optimize Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, so it does nothing. Scala is reviewing the System Optimizer settings for a future release.
2. Using the Remote Desktop Connection can cause degradation in system performance and interfere with Scala 5’s ability to check for the dongle. As a work around, customers can use VNC instead. Alternatively, customers who absolutely must use Remote Desktop to manage players can also work-around this issue temporarily by including:
Add to the Scala Player 5 MMOS.INI file. Note that Scala Player 5 does check for a dongle even though in most cases it is not needed.
